More Love for the 'Ville

Throughout past week, Louisville has opened her welcoming arms to our troupe. Yet another award for the area has been made, rounding out the work week with 3 grants for performances in Louisville. Today's award, made by the Department of Public Health and Wellness in Louisville, Kentucky, as a part of the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement, brings our show total to 10 for the big city in the upcoming school year. Specifically, this new program features 5 obesity shows where children will not only learn about developing healthy lifelong habits, but each participating child will receive a pedometer, too. We think it's a great way to keep kids motivated to reach the small goals they set during our program.

Because We Love Louisville (And The 'Ville Loves Us)

Grant Alert! Grant Alert! I'm a little giddy today because we've received another grant today. That's two in two days! This time, we've received $2,250 from the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness as a part of the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement. Get ready Louisville, because this grant sends our troupe back to the city to perform obesity shows. This time around we're going to reach out to the city's organizations for children such as the YMCA and the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. With this grant, our tally of shows in the Louisville area should reach about 20! We love The 'Ville!

Kosair Commends KOB

This just in: Kosair Charities of Louisville, Kentucky has approved a grant proposal for performances in their home city. The $1,175 grant funds 2 performances--one spina bifida and one cerebral palsy--for schools or hospitals in 2010. This is an excellent opportunity for our troupe to educate children on these topics. The performances fit especially well with Kosair Charities as the organization funds agencies devoted to children's health issues, such as the Cerebral Palsy K.I.D.S. Center, the Spina Bifida Association of Kentucky. For more information, visit their website http://www.kosair.org/.

KOB Funded for Louisville Performances

Thanks to the Cralle Foundation, KOB will be travelling to Louisville in 2010 for 9 performances in the area. The Cralle Foundation, Inc. of Louisville, Kentucky has approved the grant of $4,656. Requested funds cover the cost of 3 round trips, lunches for 3 puppeteers for 3 days, educational teacher packets, preparation, set-up, and performances. Schools will be given the opportunity in the fall of 2009 to choose a date and topic for our troupe to perform. With over 20 topics to choose from, school administration can assure their students receive the information and services they need. And all of this is no cost to the schools thanks to this grant.


On another note, this is the first full grant proposal that's been funded since I've been writing with KOB. It feels awesome!
