Kids on the Block is funded in part by:
The kids on the Block educational puppet troupe has been awarded a $23,186 grant to provide fifty Child Sexual Abuse programs plus educational teacher packets for a statewide initiative to teach young children about this issue. The performances will be performed on a first-come first-serve basis to schools spread over the fifteen Bluegras Area Developement Districts during the upcoming school year. We are excited to again be able to offer these programs and to expand our programs to all areas of the state.

WHAS annual Crusade for Children was a tremendous success, and Kids on the Block benefited by receiving a grant award of $2,853 to be used for five choice programs in the Louisville area schools. Each school can choose from over twenty program topics to select the topic that best meets the needs of the students in that particular school. This grant also provides funds to purchase a much needed piece of video equipment to be used for training purposes as well as other initiatives. We are delighted to receive this funding and to be able to serve children with special needs.

South Central Kentucky Kids on the Block was awarded a grant in the amount of $5,647.20 to educate Muhlenberg County students. This grant will be used to support the continued expansion of Kids on the Block programs in the Muhlenberg County area. This expansion will provide two performances of educational puppet shows at each of the five elementary schools. Each school will be offered two shows, one on Bullying and one on the topic of their choosing. With over twenty program topics, each school will have the opportunity to select the best fit, age appropriate show for the children in that school. Topics span across multiple medical, social, and safety issues, such as bullying, obesity, child abuse, self-steem, etc.

Kids on the Block recently received a grant from Kosair Charities in the amount of $1,200 which funds two Kids on the Block performances and teacher packets in the Louisville area. This is the third year that KOB has received this grant. This grant supports a KOB project goal to reach into more populated areas around the state. These shows will be performed fo Louisville schools during the upcoming school year. 2011-2012
Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement. "Small steps leads to Big results"
Kids on the Block recently received a $3,000 grant from the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness as part of the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement mini-grant program. This grant funds five obesity shows plus pedometers for all students and staff attending the performances. These programs will be performed for Louisville area schools in the upcoming school year. This is the third year KOB has received this grant. We are very excited to continue to receive funding for this initiative.
